Preview: América visits Alianza in matchday 11 of the Liga

This Sunday, September 22, the scarlet team visits Alianza in the match valid for the 11th round of the Betplay League 2024-II.

América comes into this match after achieving a perfect record in Villavicencio, where they earned 9 points out of a possible 9. Meanwhile, Alianza suffered a narrow defeat against Deportivo Pereira in their most recent league game.

Regarding this match, our technical director Jorge Da Silva and player Alexis Zapata spoke to the press at the hotel in Villavicencio about the game:

“We’re going to approach the game the same way, keeping in mind that we’ll have to make some forced changes and others as a precaution. We can’t afford to lose any players; we have a run of games coming up, so any injury would mean missing a number of matches. We’re not going to take any risks like we did with Cristian Barrios, and we’ll see about Bocanegra. We’re going to field a team that we know can win the game,” said the manager.

For his part, player Alexis Zapata also spoke about this match and the instructions from coach Polilla: “I’ve felt very good, the coach has given me confidence. On the field, you have to do what the coach asks of you. When we don’t have the ball, I also have to defend and support the team. (…) At my previous club, I played wide on the right in Barrios’ position, it’s not an unfamiliar position. I’m working to be ready for wherever the coach needs me.”

The match will take place at 6:20 pm at the Armando Maestre Pavajeau Stadium in Valledupar.
