SYMBOLS OF A PASSION

Coat of Arms – Anthem

Starting in 2017, the club's crest was introduced without stars, following international standardization within the global professional football industry. Teams now display only their crests without any graphic reference to their sporting achievements. As part of its organizational stabilization process and its evolving vision within the global sports landscape, Club América adopted these guidelines.

HISTORY OF THE SHIELD

The shield with the devil that identifies the institution appeared in 1940 as a symbol of celebration; the protagonists of the time stated that the American players played like true devils on the field.

During Gabriel Ochoa Uribe's twelve-year tenure as coach of Club América, the crest featuring the devil was always a source of contention due to the doctor's mystical beliefs. For this reason, the uniforms only displayed the stars corresponding to the championships won. The team's crest had already been modified in 1977 to commemorate the club's 50th anniversary; for that year's championship, América appeared with a round crest adorned with two laurel wreaths and the inscription "América 50 Años" (América 50 Years).

On the occasion of the Club's 70th anniversary in 1997, it was decided to bring back the devil for the uniforms and sports equipment.

From that date onwards, the evil meaning that many people give it has been completely banished and it is considered simply in figurative terms.

In 2007, to commemorate the club's 80th anniversary, the devil was temporarily replaced with a gold-colored 80th-anniversary logo. The years 1927-2007 were placed at the bottom, and the stars at the top represented the twelve national titles the club had won up to that point. In 2008, the crest reverted to displaying only the name "América" with twelve stars (five of which were inside the crest, symbolizing the five championships won in the 1980s). After winning the 2008 Finalización tournament, another star was added to the crest, bringing the total to thirteen stars the club currently holds.

From 2010 to the present, the classic crest with the devil and the thirteen red stars at the top has been used again. Since then, the malevolent meaning that many people attribute to it has been completely banished and it is considered simply in a figurative sense.

It can never be turned off.
