America played two preseason friendly matches against Boca Juniors

This Saturday, two friendly matches were played at our Cascajal Sports Complex against Boca Juniors as part of the Scarlet Preseason that began on May 15th.

In total, two matches were played, with two 35-minute halves each.

FIRST MATCH:

In the first game, coach Polilla fielded David Quintero; Jeisson Palacios, Oscar Hernández, Marcos Mina, Nilson Castrillón, Luis Paz, Jader Quiñones, Alexis Zapata, Rodrigo Rivas and Michael Barrios.

The first goal of the match came after Alexis Zapata recovered a ball, Nilson Castrillón intercepted a pass from an opponent on the right, passed to Rodrigo Rivas who shot and after a block by the opponent, the rebound fell to Jader Quiñones who ended up scoring the first goal of the match. (1-0)

Another clear opportunity for the scarlet team came after a powerful free kick from Alexis Zapata that the goalkeeper managed to clear, and on the rebound, Michael Barrios failed to connect to score the second goal.

The opposing team scored the equalizer with a low free kick that ended up in the back of our net. The scorer was Jhostín Medranda. (1-1)

In the second half, the team started with: Juan Múnera; Jeisson Palacios, Oscar Hernández, Marcos Mina, Esneyder Mena, Luis Paz, Jader Quiñones, Alexis Zapata, Luis Felipe Riascos and Johan Garcés.

The second goal came from a quick play by Luis Felipe Riascos down the left flank, who then fired a shot across goal to increase the lead. (2-1)

In another clear play by our team, Josen Escobar took a powerful free kick that the opposing goalkeeper managed to clear.

Boca Juniors equalized the game after a rebound from our team that Jhossimar Chaverra took advantage of to capture the ball, shoot from mid-range and seal the (2-2) with which the first friendly ended.

SECOND MATCH:

In the second game, our technical director Jorge Da Silva fielded: Jorge Soto, Yerson Candelo, Andrés Mosquera, Daniel Bocanegra, Edwin Velasco, Harold Rivera, Franco Leys, Cristian Barrios, Ever Valencia, Felipe Gómez and Rodrigo Holgado.

The first clear chance came after a corner kick from Ever Valencia that Edwin Velasco managed to head but the ball went wide of the opposing goal.

Another chance for the scarlet team came after a well-worked play between Harold Rivera, Ever Valencia and Rodrigo Holgado, who shot and the ball hit the right post. On the rebound, he tried again, but there were more opponents in the area who blocked the ball.

The first goal came from a powerful free kick by Ever Valencia that ended up in the back of the net.

The second goal for the Red Team came after a cross from Cristián Barrios, which Felipe Gómez flicked on for Rodrigo Holgado to extend the lead. The second friendly match of the day ended 2-0 in favor of América de Cali.
