In a hard-fought match,
Diablos Rojos and Aseguradores drew 0-0 in the Colombian capital, in the second leg of the round of 16 of the 2024 BetPlay Cup. With this result, Jorge Da Silva 's team advanced to the next round of the competition.
Having won the first leg 2-0 at Pascual Guerrero, América de Cali traveled to Bogotá to manage the series and secure their qualification at El Campín. Despite their aggregate advantage, Los Rojos started the match dominating possession and looking for openings to attack Washington Ortega's goal.
The first sign of commitment came in the 12th minute.

In the 22nd minute, Beckham Castro sent in a low cross for Juan Carvajal, who tried to trouble the goal guarded by
Jorge Soto , but Daniel Bocanegra 's timely intervention sent the ball out for a corner kick.
In the second half, América continued to control the pace of the game and search for the winning goal. In the 50th minute, Jader Quiñones evaded a defender with a skillful move, then attempted to pass to Rodrigo Holgado inside the box, but a defender intercepted the pass. Harold Rivera pounced on the rebound and took a shot on goal; however, a defender from the home team blocked the ball's path. Franco Leys was the last to try his luck with a shot from outside the area that was deflected for a corner by a defender.
A minute later, Cristian Barrios had a great chance inside the area, with a volley that went just wide of Ortega's goal. With eleven minutes remaining, the Insurancemen threatened Ortega's goal.
Jorge Soto delivered a cross from Andrés Correa that curled in, forcing a save from the American goalkeeper, who tipped the ball out for a corner. From the ensuing corner, defender Martín Payares headed the ball, which struck the crossbar.
When extra time was played,
Felipe Gómez led two attacking opportunities for América, but the plays did not end in a goal and the final whistle marked the 0-0 on the scoreboard, with which the Reds qualified among the 8 best teams of the Cup.
The next match for the Scarlets will be played this Saturday, October 5, when they visit Boyacá Chicó at La Independencia, for the 13th matchday of the BetPlay League 2024-II.
