This week, David González was officially presented as the new technical director of América de Cali, with the goal of facing the remaining sporting challenges in the second half of 2025.
In his first statements, our technical director referred to this new challenge he is taking on in his coaching career:
“It’s a challenge I like, because of what this institution represents, because in the place where it is, it’s an obligation to go beyond that. The fact of being able to arrive, to be able to make an impact little by little, to change the mindset and the way of thinking that one adopts when going through a difficult time will be very important,” he said.
Regarding the club's youth coaches who will accompany him in this process, he mentioned: “ Alex Escobar is a legend at this club, and we're going to take advantage of the connection he has with the players and the fans. As for Carlos Hernández and Harold Viáfara , we've been working on developing certain roles, especially in defense, given the positions they've played.”
“We are coaches of the Institution and we are here so that they can implement their game plan and what is required. We will be on the sidelines doing that work,” said Alex Escobar, who will be managing the team during the remaining matches in the League and Cup schedule.
David González will be accompanied by Jorge Alexander Ceballos as technical assistant and Nicolás Ramírez as physical trainer, who also gave their first statements after their arrival to the Scarlet team.
“We found a team that is very eager to change this situation and that is key to taking the team to the place it deserves to be,” said assistant coach Jorge Alexander Ceballos.
“The most important thing right now is to try to win, that’s what we’re going to prioritize, that’s what the team needs from a morale standpoint. If the mindset is good, the rest will be much better,” said Nicolás Ramírez, the physical trainer.
Finally, our strategist sent a message to the fans: “We want to reassure the fans that the main work is done here, in training, in knowing how the players are doing, in the game plan, in analyzing each opponent very well, and in making sure the team knows exactly what they have to do on the field.”
Under the technical direction of David González , the team is training to face Fortaleza in the match corresponding to the 11th round of the BetPlay League 2025-II.
