This Tuesday, October 7th, América de Cali travels to the nation's capital to face Millonarios in Matchday 14 of the 2025-II BetPlay League. The Red Devils come into this match after securing an important away victory against Junior in the BetPlay Cup, while Millonarios recently lost to Atlético Nacional.
Prior to this league match, our technical director David González spoke about this opponent and the keys to the game:
“It’s a match that might be a bit more open because we both need points. We have to try to focus on ourselves, on our off-the-ball situations, and on when we’re going to pressure them. We know the opposing team’s players; they have a different style of play due to the coaching change. We’ll try to prioritize our own game, and the most important thing will be to capitalize on the scoring opportunities we create—that will be key,” he said.
Regarding the recent adjustments made to the team, he stated: “It’s a team where we have players with good footwork, and that makes our job much easier. It was a matter of adjusting positions and starting to receive the ball in areas of the field where we can create advantages and from there try to continue with our offensive power.”
Regarding playing at altitude, he stated: “Over the years the gap has been closing; it’s no longer unusual for a team to press at altitude. It’s simply a matter of being effective, knowing when to press and when not to, trying to recover strength, but I don’t think it’s an impediment to going there and playing a smart game.”
The match will take place at 7:30 pm at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium.
