Éder Álvarez Balanta, new Scarlet reinforcement!

After an extensive stint in European football, player Éder Fabián Álvarez Balanta returns to his native country to defend the colors of América de Cali.

The 31-year-old from Bogotá made his professional football debut with River Plate (Argentina), where he played from 2013 to 2016. He then moved to European football for eight seasons, playing for Basel (Switzerland), Schalke 04 (Germany), and Club Brugge (Belgium).

Despite having made his professional debut as a central defender, Álvarez Balanta currently plays as a defensive midfielder. In his last season with Club Brugge in Belgium, he made 21 appearances.

América de Cali will be the first Colombian team where Éder Álvarez plays, and he hopes to contribute all his experience abroad and his talent to achieve the goals set for this semester.
