Preview: América and Deportivo Cali face off in a new Valle del Cauca derby

This Sunday, September 7, América de Cali hosts Deportivo Cali in the Clásico corresponding to matchday 10 of the BetPlay League 2025-II.

“A very important Clásico is coming up, they are a great rival, we'll see how we approach this match, which is very important for us, to get out of this uncomfortable position we're in right now, to keep adding points and achieve one of our objectives, which is to get into the top eight. We have to work hard, the lads are focused on making a great effort,” said interim head coach Alex Escobar.

Regarding Adrián Ramos ' return, he said: “We've talked, we've been training for a week, we don't know yet if he'll be able to play. He's an important figure for the team. It all depends on what we discuss with him.”

Regarding the goalkeeper for this match, Escobar stated: “We haven't decided yet who will start, all three are in very good condition.”

Similarly, one of the team's key players and captains, Luis Paz , spoke to the media about this commitment.

“Every Clásico has its own unique character; we have to face it and win it. We must have the mental strength to live through this moment, because you don't forget how to play football overnight, but certain situations can throw you off. We're working on that. The victory we achieved helps a lot mentally so that our footballing skills can flow again,” the experienced midfielder stated.

It is worth remembering that four players have recently joined our squad: Andrés Tello, Nicolás Hernández, Andrés Roa and our idol and role model, Adrián Ramos.

The match between Escarlatas and Verdiblancos will be at 4:10 pm at the Pascual Guerrero.
