Preview: América visits Deportivo Cali in the second leg of the Copa Betplay quarterfinals

This Wednesday, October 23, América will play the second leg of their Copa Betplay quarterfinal match against Deportivo Cali. The Red Devils hold the advantage in the series thanks to two goals scored by Duván Vergara at the Pascual Guerrero stadium .

The Red team comes into this match after a 2-2 draw against La Equidad at El Campín. Meanwhile, the Green team's most recent match was precisely the first leg against our squad.

Regarding this match, our players Daniel Bocanegra and Franco Leys spoke to the media at the Cascajal Sports Complex about the game:

“We have an advantage that we need to manage. They play well, and we know that. We have to work to improve. That first leg of the clásico wasn't one of our best matches. On Wednesday, we have to go out and play well, to win or at least maintain our lead,” said the defender.

“We will have to be very careful not to make mistakes; we must minimize those details so that they don't get closer to us on the scoreboard,” Bocanegra emphasized.

The Argentine midfielder also gave his analysis of this Cup match:

“We have to keep doing what has been working for us, with the same humility and seriousness we've shown in other matches. It's going to be a very tough game; we respect all our opponents regardless of the situation. Classics aren't just played, they're won, and we have to win this one no matter what,” Leys said.

The Valle del Cauca derby will be played at 7:00 pm at the Deportivo Cali Stadium.
