This Sunday, October 27th at 6:20 pm, América de Cali visits Junior de Barranquilla in matchday 15 of the Betplay League 2024-II.
Our team comes into this match after advancing to the Copa Betplay semifinals , eliminating Deportivo Cali along the way. Furthermore, the Red Devils are currently leading the regular season with 33 points.
Meanwhile, the Shark team occupies seventh place with 22 points and recently beat Deportivo Pereira 3-1.
Our physical trainer Manuel Cabrera and players Cristian Barrios and Éder Álvarez Balanta commented on this match:
“We know how difficult the match in Barranquilla will be; they have a strong squad. The game is going to be very tough, but we have our own mentality, the mentality to win, just like we've been doing. We have to play on their desperation and need to win, controlling the game in every play, every moment,” the striker said.
Álvarez Balanta also gave a brief analysis of the coastal team:
“They’re always fighting for points, they have very good players, like Carlos Bacca, and we’ll go there with the best intentions to win the match and keep adding points to our tally. They’re a team that needs to get points, it’s going to be a very intense, very open game, they’ll surely be looking to attack from the first minute, create scoring opportunities, we have to be smart and take advantage of the space behind them to create chances,” he said.
Manuel Cabrera , the physical trainer, referred to how the workloads have been managed during this series of matches:
"The focus is mainly on recovery after the game, working a lot with the players who are getting few minutes in the off-field and in the rotation, managing minutes played, the fatigue of each player to see how they are and to be able to count on most of the players for a large part of the games."
