Preview: América visits Junior in the first leg of the BetPlay Cup quarterfinals

This Thursday, October 2nd, América de Cali visits the capital of Atlántico to face Junior in the first leg of the BetPlay Cup quarterfinals.

The Scarlet team reached this stage after eliminating Atlético Bucaramanga. Meanwhile, the coastal team eliminated Atlético in the round of 16.

Currently, Junior is the leader of the League with 25 points while the team managed by David González occupies the 13th position in the standings.

Prior to this match, our player Jhon Tilman Palacios spoke about the opponent and how this competition is being approached:

“I always try to come in and do my best for the group. We're not going through a great time right now, but we're working as a group and collectively to improve and turn things around,” he said.

Regarding this competition, he said: “In the Cup or in the League, our mentality must always be to go out and win. Whoever it is, we are in America; here we don't measure tournaments or rivals. We know that Junior is a team with good players and is in good form in the League, but we are more focused on our own work.”

The first leg will be played at the Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez stadium at 8:00 pm. The second leg will be played on October 15th at the Pascual Guerrero stadium at 8:20 pm.
