Preview: América visits Fluminense in the second leg of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana round of 16

This Tuesday, August 19, América de Cali visits Fluminense at the legendary Maracaná stadium for the second leg of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana round of 16.

Prior to this match, our technical director Gabriel Raimondi spoke to the media:

“This is a crucial series. The team is in good shape. Mentally, we all know what's at stake. Against these kinds of opponents, we have to give more than 100%. We've been working knowing that we can't change what happened in Cali, but we can focus on what's to come. Besides analyzing our mistakes, the players already know we have to avoid them in this match,” said our coach.

“Fluminense has many high-caliber players; we have to prevent them from getting comfortable shots on goal. We have to fine-tune what we do as much as possible, beyond simply neutralizing what they do. It’s crucial not to get desperate,” he added.

“To our fans we say: we are just as excited as they are” Gabriel Raimondi

At Pascual Guerrero Stadium, América lost 1-2 to the Brazilian side, and now in Brazil, the Red Devils will look to make a statement and advance to the next round. The match will kick off at 7:30 pm (Colombia time).
