Juan Fernando Quintero was born on January 18, 1993 in Medellín, Colombia.
His professional career began in 2009 at Envigado FC, where he quickly demonstrated his talent. He then had a brief stint at Atlético Nacional before making the leap to European football with Pescara in Italy in 2012. The Colombian then played for FC Porto, where he continued to showcase his talent.
Quintero returned to South America in 2017, making a name for himself at River Plate in Argentina. There, he won the 2018 Copa Libertadores against Boca Juniors, scoring an unforgettable goal in extra time.
Furthermore, he has been a key player in the Colombian national team, participating in the World Cups of Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, where his goal against Japan was nominated for the Puskás award.
After his time at River Plate, Quintero played in China and returned to Colombia to play for Junior de Barranquilla. He recently won the Copa Sudamericana with Racing, where he was one of the team's standout players.
The skillful player arrived in the city of Cali this Tuesday to undergo medical examinations and don the Scarlet jersey.
