With Andrés Usme at the helm, América Femenino debuts in the 2026 League against Junior

As part of América de Cali's 99th birthday celebrations, the professional women's team will make its debut in the 2026 BetPlay Dimayor Women's League against Junior de Barranquilla.

This match will mark the ninth meeting between América and Veracruz. In their previous eight encounters, América has recorded seven wins and one draw.

The match will also be special because of Andrés Usme's return to the América bench. The coach will lead his first official game in this new phase at the helm of the women's team, with the expectation of building a competitive project for the 2026 season.

Regarding squad changes, América added important reinforcements for this semester with the arrival of Catalina Usme, Mayra Neira, Tatiana Castañeda, Génesis Flórez and Obeida Mendoza, players who will bring experience and depth to different lines of the field.

On the other hand, the club confirmed several departures for this season: Vanessa Castillo, Jessica Caro, Melisa Rivas, Francelis Graterol, Joemar Guarecuco, María Fernanda Agudelo and Alejandra Henao will not continue in the scarlet squad.

In the medical department, players Nohelis Coronel, Manuela Gómez, Laura Orozco and Paula Escobar are currently recovering, the latter two in the final stages of recovery.

With a revamped squad, a new coaching staff, and the momentum of a historic date for the institution, América de Cali's women's team begins its journey in the 2026 League with its sights set on a new goal.

The match will take place at 5:00 pm at Pascual Guerrero.
