America defended their home turf and are still in the fight

On an afternoon full of emotions at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium , América de Cali showed their character and beat Deportes Tolima 4-2, achieving three crucial points to stay alive in the semifinal quadrangulars of the League.

From the outset, the Reds made it clear they were going for the win. Just three minutes in, Josen Escobar tried his luck with a shot that missed the target. As the minutes ticked by, the Reds established themselves in the opposing half, searching for the first goal of the match. Nilson Castrillón, Brayan Medina, and Franco Leys all tried without success, until the play that would change the course of the first half arrived.

In the 36th minute, Marlon Torres fouled Andrés Mosquera Guardia in the penalty area. Cristian Barrios, with the composure of a specialist, converted the penalty in the 39th minute to give the home side the lead. But just when it seemed América would go into halftime with the advantage, a foul by Brayan Medina in stoppage time allowed Yeison Guzmán to equalize from the penalty spot in the 45th minute +4'.

The second half began with a cold shower for América. Brayan Gil capitalized on a mistake in the home team's penalty area and put Tolima ahead in the 51st minute. However, the fighting spirit of the Red Devils emerged. In the 66th minute, Adrián Ramos equalized with a spectacular diving header after a Duván Vergara free kick rebounded off the post.
Two minutes later, Edwin Velasco sent the stadium into a frenzy. A pinpoint cross from Josen Escobar was met by the full-back, who beat goalkeeper William Cuesta to make it 3-2.

As the clock struck the 95th minute and the match drew to a close, América sealed their victory with a moment of brilliance. Duván Vergara threaded a perfect pass to Alexis Zapata , whose shot was blocked, but the rebound fell to the feet of the ever-present captain, Adrián Ramos. With composure and skill, the number 9 evaded a defender and finished to make it 4-2.

With this victory, América reached 4 points in the group and keeps alive their hopes of advancing to the final. Their next challenge will be against Once Caldas on Wednesday, December 4th, at the Palogrande Stadium in Manizales.
