America Women debuted with a victory in the Valle del Cauca derby

América Femenino started the BetPlay Dimayor Women's League 2025 on the right foot by achieving a narrow victory against their classic rival, Deportivo Cali.

At about 5:45 pm the emotions started rolling at the Palmaseca Stadium where our team had its first game in the current League.

Just five minutes into the match, América made a smart move. On a counter-attack by the opposing team, our defender Manuela Gómez headed the ball into the box, where Elexa reacted quickly, outmaneuvering the Deportivo Cali center-backs. She unleashed a powerful right-footed shot that found the back of the net. Our first goal of the tournament.

The game started to get very competitive, there was a lot of friction between the players and in a collision play, our defender Sofia Ortiz was injured and had to be substituted.

The first half ended and our team went into halftime with the lead. In the second half, the duels and physical play continued. In the end, it was a narrow victory for our team. A debut and a win for John Tierradentro in his first match managing the Scarlet team.

In the next match, América Femenino will host Alianza on Sunday, March 9th at approximately 4:00 pm.
