This Wednesday, September 25, América returns to play at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium after 160 days away from the pitch. This time, the Red Devils host La Equidad in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Copa Betplay Dimayor.
Our technical director Jorge Da Silva and player Edwin Velasco spoke to América's microphones about this match:
“From the beginning, our goal has been to be protagonists, to try our best to ensure the team is in top positions, and that is the conviction behind what we want and what we are doing in every match,” said the strategist, referring to the good moment they are experiencing in the Betplay League 2024-II.
This will be the first match at Sanfernandino in Polilla's second stint as head coach.
“I experienced some wonderful things as a player and as a coach in 2017, and it’s always great to return to Pascual Guerrero Stadium. It’s a place that brings me a lot of joy. We know we’re facing a tough opponent, a team that plays well and has been training with the same manager for many years.”
For his part, the player referred to this tournament and gave a brief analysis of how to achieve the three points at home:
“The effort, the constant effort, supporting our teammates—that's been key to the good moment we're experiencing as a team. We know that Coach Alexis has been with La Equidad for a long time. It's a very strong, quite dynamic team; if we keep working on it, not rushing things, we'll be able to win the match.”
