This Wednesday, March 5th, the América de Cali squad will travel in the afternoon on a direct charter flight to the city of Barranquilla where tomorrow they will play their preliminary round match against Junior in the Copa Sudamericana.
The Scarlet team comes into this match after an important home victory against Deportivo Pereira.
Our technical director, Jorge Da Silva , and striker Luis Ramos , spoke about this commitment.
“We are focused, optimistic, and confident, concentrating on this match. We are eager to get into the group stage, knowing that it will be a very difficult match in a very challenging venue, but we have a lot of faith in our players. Hopefully, we can achieve what we dream of,” said our coach.
“I always believe that we need to improve in the upcoming matches. This will be an important game for the future of the club and the squad. We're going to do everything possible to achieve that. We need to try to have more playing time, more control of the game, so we can create scoring opportunities. We're going to try to improve in that area,” Da Silva emphasized.
For his part, Ramos also spoke about his teammates and his starting position: “The important thing is to win here, regardless of who is on the field.”
The match against the Shark team will be on Thursday, March 6 at 7:30 pm. After their match, América will train on Friday the 7th in the morning at the headquarters of the Colombian Football Federation in the capital of the Atlántico and in the afternoon they will travel to Medellín to play the match on Sunday, March 9 against Atlético Nacional, a match corresponding to the 8th round of the Betplay League 2025-I.
